Unit 2 Seminar Reflection

Q Seminars provide you with an opportunity to converse with your instructor and peers, and to resolve questions about the course. Your instructor will provide specific guidelines to save you valuable time and effort, and to support your course success. You must either attend the live Seminar or complete the alternative assignment in order to earn points. Seminar topics and/or pre-work, if applicable, can be found in Course Resources. OPTION 1 - ATTEND SEMINAR Throughout your program, you will be asked to attend various Seminars. Seminars take place at designated times in specific units. Your instructor will give details about the Seminar during the first week of the course. Please review your Course Announcements and emails. If you are unable to attend the Seminar, you are required to watch the entire archived recording and complete the alternative assignment by the end of the unit in order to earn points. OPTION 2 - ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT While viewing the entire recording of this week’s archived Seminar, create a summary document. Seminar slides should not be copied – this would be considered plagiarism. You should be able to view the recording and make notes at the same time so that you capture the following items: • Describe the main points discussed in the Seminar. • Include sub-topics and/or subsequent classroom discussion from the entire Seminar. • Include points found of interest about the unit content and/or any additional reflections or questions about the unit content. You may write the assignment in a bulleted list format or paragraph format. APA style is not required. Remember to review the grading rubric so that you include all of the required elements.

The seminar began with the teacher emphasizing the need to mention the name, date, and title in all of our submissions and encouraging us to think about our ideas as if ‘they are the best ideas.’ Culture was the starting topic for Unit 2. The teacher asked the students to talk about their opinions on the definition of culture. Culture is about values and beliefs passed from one generation to the next. It is important to understand the culture of a group because the group has the same cultural values that motivate them to do what they do and why they do what they do. Culture defines people in the same cultural group.
