In case, I get the chance to live either in Sparta or in Athens, I would select Athens. I believe that Athens and Sparta both the Greek Poleis have some historical as well as cultural significance. In Sparta, the lifestyle is more different and full of opportunities. Athens and Sparta both used to be self governing ones, however Athens was a place where getting higher education was easier and Sparta was the place for discipline. When it comes to security, Sparta had some excellent policies. Athens, on the other hand, had some extremely different cultural values. The main reason for selecting Athens is the opportunities regarding education.
